Till the summer comes again. Today, I signed up to receive seed catalogs and already, I have my eye on many little gems. I will watch my mailbox, waiting for them to arrive. It’s like planting a seed for summer to grow.
Today, we are covered with a quilt. The snow has kissed the trees, every limb is frozen and glistening beautifully in the sunlight. Winter’s White is pure and new. It’s time to rest as the trees and flowers will have hard work ahead of them.
For now, the appreciation for the season will be the warmth and comfort of cable knits and fleece, healthy food, and the darkness before spring’s light. See the beauty of the season.
Dream of spring with this beauty. It is great for art, cardmaking, and crafts. Right click on the image to save to your device. This image has been restored and background removed.
Wishing you and yours a beautiful start to the New Year.
It amazes me how fast the landscape can change. How quick we can slip from summer into fall almost seamlessly. This weekend, the wind whipped through the trees changing the landscape once again. Many leaves have fulfilled their purpose and now decorate the ground with their fading color. So much work to do in the garden, but the fresh cold air will be a bit of relief after the humidity of this past summer. Nature seems to be taking hold in many parts of my life.
What I wasn’t ready for was seeing the big snowflakes that covered the ground in a thin blanket of white. With that blanket came an unexpected sense of peace. The responsibility of outside chores were washed away. The thought of driving anywhere had vanished. Perhaps winter is our time to slow down to appreciate the things around us.
As you can see, I have much work to do in my yard. The wind knocked down many trees this season, but I’m afraid it will be work to do in the spring.
For now, I have started a new ink drawing of an Ox Eye Daisy that I will share soon on IG. There is also a new set of four bird prints at my shop.
What do you like to do when the season keeps you indoors.
The snow fell quick and steady throughout the morning covering everything in a thick blanket of white. The usual little critter tracks were non existent, nothing dared come out of its warm home. There was a level of silence as I stepped outside, it was unusual. The crisp, pure air hit my lungs, a calmness set in.
The crunch under my feet echoed throughout the woodland floor. The individual snowflakes danced down from the sky, piling inside the boot prints I left behind, erasing it’s knowledge of my existence.
I miss the lush green that spring and summer provide, but somehow there was a new appreciation today. The beauty in the lines, the contrast of light and dark, the different textures jumped from the forest. It was like mother nature had used a white pencil on all of the trees while they slept. It was inspiring to look at the surroundings with an artful eye.
