Clip Art

The world of clip art has endless possibilities for creativity. Invitations, greeting cards, wall art, transfers, it’s limitless. Some of the best works come from the 1800’s public domain. I have been collecting some damaged pieces, actually I am like a chipmunk collecting a feast for winter. Anyone who lives in a snowbelt area can understand why :)It’s always incredibly rewarding to make something old and unusable into something new again.

I hope to be changing up my shop to include some of these pieces. I am adding commercial clipart so that others can use these in their own art. If you are a crafter or artist looking for unique clipart please feel free to message me. Or need a blog logo, I’d love to help you create something you are looking for.

Watermelon Salad Paper and Recipe

Watermelon Salad Paper 1

Graphics and multi media are a part of our everyday life from packaging, television, advertisement, and products. I am constantly looking at packaging, taking it all in, driving my husband crazy by looking over all the new products. Let’s face it, some of the beauty products are packaged beautifully.

I love to make graphics, but you have gathered that if you are a follower. It can be anything from flowers, food, objects, people, animals, etc. Over the years, I have quite a large collection. Anything I don’t have, I make by painting, pen & ink, watercolor, or by camera. Then I scan, remove the background, and fix any errors that I see in the original art. Then the fun begins, layers upon layers can be built. Let’s not forget about the ephemera that is available in the public domain to use as a background. Looking for hours on end is my winter hobby. Some antique stores even carry it.

Soon, I will be adding some of these type of graphics and paper to LismorePaperCo I do offer custom orders.

I was asked for this recipe by a neighbor and thought it was the perfect opportunity to get a little creative. Watermelon Salad is one of my favorite summer salads. It’s so flavorful and delicious especially if you let it chill for an hour. Esme sits, waiting for bits of this salad, too! It’s that good 🙂

You can click on the paper above to save to your device . The recipe card is 4 x 6 inch and can be printed. Each item is for personal use. Watermelon Salad Recipe card 4 x 6

What is to love about the cold and gray sky or a sun that is in endless hibernation. The trees moan as the wind envelopes their trunks depositing snow into all the nooks and crannies of their protective bark. The skeletons in the garden sway back and forth as a reminder of the lush color it once held.

These are the days where the story begins and the magic blooms. It is necessary, the winter rest. We are afforded the time to ease into our comfy place, snuggle under a soft blanket, and plan for spring. The landscape gets to live again in our imagination. We sow the garden with new seeds and flowers that magically raise from the once frozen soil, awakened by the sun.

Embrace this time to plot. Soon spring will be here and the work begins. I am planning a healing garden (a first aid garden). There are so many wild and garden herbs that are ideal to infuse into a beeswax salve, transform into a tea, or oil. There is nothing like local thyme infused honey. They can also star as a line drawing in your favorite sketch book.

I will share more on my plans for the first aid garden. There is so much to explore and learn, art and medicine 🙂 Click on the link below to get started on plotting your own garden. Imagine big!

Getting Crafty

1 inch Craft jpeg ad

It’s that time of the year when the crafty bubbles over. It’s fun to try new things when it’s a little too chilly or snowy to do much outside. I’m always cruising Pinterest for new and fun ideas. Recently, I saw small sea turtle jewelry blanks on Etsy and thought these could make perfect gifts for the beach, lake, and sea loving people. It’s also a nice reminder of summer 🙂 Once I receive them, I will share the finished pieces with you. Just in case you want to try, I have attached three of the craft circles I made for the jewelry blanks. Click below on the pdf link.

Also, on Pinterest, I have been eyeballing the cutest Peg People. When I was little, one of my favorite toys were the Little People. I am probably dating myself, but any chance to feel like a kid again, I’m game. I purchased a few peg people blanks and this winter, I am going to put together a few families.

Little People

Yesterday, I created one peg girl.  I could not decided if I wanted to use paint, paint pens, or colored pencil. This poor peg person has every element possible, my test peg (I spent an hour smashing all the colors together like a kid). I really enjoyed creating this little peg, and now she has become my peg on a shelf, although she isn’t any where near a quality piece nor polished (no sanding or seal). I have also decided to try a wood burner to make the lines so I’ll have to let you know how this winter project goes.

I hope everyone is having fun creating, preparing, and making plans with family and friends for a wonderful season of love and joy.

With much love,
