Weigh To Be Healthy – Free Inspiration

Creating art, searching for ephemera, blogging and journaling requires a lot of sitting with little movement. With winter making its way back to us at a rapid pace, the days of gardening, swimming and moving a ton of mulch and sand is over. Let’s face it, the older we get the more active we need to be to stay fit. Can I tell you, I love sweets and carbs! For me, this is the time to make a lifestyle change.

I have been battling the same 35 pounds for years. Up and down. A true roller coaster, not a sleek, fast one either more like a wooden one. Gaining back that 35 one cookie and slice of pie at a time. Luckily, I have always been healthy, its just that darn sugar and the dreaded emotional eating. I need structure and inspiration. Mostly, I need accountability.

Linda over at Everyone Else Has The Best Titles posted WHY WEIGHT She wanted to form a weightloss/health group who would be supportive, listen to lamentations, and generally just be there for each other, and to please get in touch. Well, I didn’t wait, I jumped on board without hesitation. The best part I met another blogger who is absolutely amazing Deb, from Being Aunt Debbie

Do you have the same struggles? Need a lifestyle change? Can you help others with their journey? Have a great time doing it with us! If you want a fun support group of like-minded people this is the right place. Our journey may be a little different but we have the same goal in mind, to be a healthier version of ourselves. The best part is the limitless resources at our fingertips. Healthy recipes, fantastic links to weight loss and health, and endless inspiration/motivation. Kindness and understanding.

So, with all of that said, I am thrilled to invite you to be a part of a brand new Facebook group called…

Weigh to be Healthy

Meet our leader Linda

Meet Deb

We are a support group for the health of it! Let’s do this together!

  1. I’ve been working with the Keto plan since March and have lost 46 pounds. I still have 30 to go and I am hoping to get those off by my birthday this March. I took a look at the Facebook group you started and it looks like you will have a lot of great resources but I would hesitate to join if it is a public group. Weight can be a very private issue and I think people may be more willing to share if the “whole world” wasn’t watching. Plus, having a public group is much easier for spammy people to get into. Just my opinion. Great idea though!

  2. I have struggled with weight all my life. Now finally when diabetes is knocking at the door, I have made the changes I should have done long ago! No more carbs! As in bread or rice. No pitas, rolls and no sweet treats. I have laid off fruit go the time being too. My weight is started it’s sloooooow decent. I am hoping that this and regular walks can arrest the diabetes from taking over my life! Fingers crossed 🀞

    2. Sadje, that is just scary, to discover that diabetes is about to become problematic…
I have been Vegan for five years (Vegetarian two years before that and a rather unhappy bloated omnivore before that). I am not suggesting that a plant based diet is a magic bullet (good, balanced nutrition is vital and there are some things that might need supplementing like Vit B12 and Omega 3 but it can help with maintain good blood pressure and normal blood sugar levels.
I follow Dr Michael Greger’s work in this field.
As you may not be able to join the group, I will share this link here.

  3. Hi Lisa, I have just sent a request to Join…
I am Jilly Bean on Facebook. I prefer to keep spammers and hackers out of my life and they are easily detected with nick names. πŸ˜‰
I am not hugely overweight, but struggle to keep belly fat away. I know that I don’t exercise enough and that is part of it because I do not eat loads. I am plant based (vegan) , gluten free and except for a weakness for potato chips, am pretty much junk free.
When I was younger, I was a rake, but now I am in my sixties and the metabolism is vastly different!

    1. My Niece might join when the group gets a bit bigger. She struggles tremendously with her weight control. I know she is always looking for solutions. She has tried the Keto diet, but it isn’t a long term solution. Like most diets, it takes weight off initially, but creates imbalances if stay on it too long.

    2. Hi! Im so happy you are joining! We will have a great time. I couldn’t agree more. Hopefully the closed group will help keep the spammers and hackers away. I struggle with the same area. Its a bummer that our metabolism changes like this. I hope to learn more about the plant based life, too. So excited!

  4. You got my support sis, and of course Linda too. I don’t have weight problem, but I certainly don’t exercise enough. Apart from my weakness for chips and diet coke I have a healthy diet. I think????? Reading the comments make me wonder. I might be eating too much carbs.

  5. What an excellent post Lisa – l need to lose [l think a stone], Suze says it is half a stone. I used to be really active, the shoulder managed to mangle that up quite badly and then Suze becoming ill, and of course as dog owners we set one of our exercise routines to exercising with the family pet. Of course now a big walk for Madam la Scrappy is a slow ten minute sniff out, then a 90 second arthritic sprint home – no don’t ask – it is very almost surreal watching a crippled dog gallop home like a bow legged John Wayne after a night out on the town!

Whatever the weight is that l need to lose be it a stone or half, l need to lose it!! Ha ha!

But of course classic geeky nerd that l am has really powerful key fngers and l need to get my walking legs back in properly. They used to be able to crack walnuts, now they might crack a hard boiled egg … thankfully it’s not that bad …… [he says ha!]

I am not on a diet, but l eat pretty healthy and l am just about to start swinging back into winter action with the compost and the new compost system and some keen winter gardening and summer 2020 prep, so once into the routine l should start to lose those pounds .. half stone or stone.

Again, excellent write up and GL with the group πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you Rory! Sometimes things in our life like an injury or an illness can really impact what we see on the scale. It sounds like you are well on your way to losing what you need to and Scrappy is still moving ok, that is quite excellent. The compost system sounds great, hopefully you will post about it. Take care my friend!

    1. That is actually good to hear. I know many of us have an idea of the ideal weight that really isnt obtainable and be healthy at the same time. I can see how under eating can lead to that issue. Many people that go on diets also have that issue. Thank you for commenting!! I so enjoy your paintings πŸ’—

  6. Wonderful initiative! The mindset and support is always very important πŸ™‚
Luckily enough I have the same weight for more than 10 years now πŸ™‚ Always trying to eat well and work out constantly!
Is not easy but definitely a group of very strong willed persons can do it πŸ™‚

  7. What a wonderful idea Lisa. I must admit I’m very partial to sweets and biscuits though I try and keep it balanced with good exercise. Have a great week. 😊
