Nature’s Way

Lake

It amazes me how fast the landscape can change. How quick we can slip from summer into fall almost seamlessly. This weekend, the wind whipped through the trees changing the landscape once again. Many leaves have fulfilled their purpose and now decorate the ground with their fading color. So much work to do in the garden, but the fresh cold air will be a bit of relief after the humidity of this past summer. Nature seems to be taking hold in many parts of my life.

What I wasn’t ready for was seeing the big snowflakes that covered the ground in a thin blanket of white. With that blanket came an unexpected sense of peace. The responsibility of outside chores were washed away. The thought of driving anywhere had vanished. Perhaps winter is our time to slow down to appreciate the things around us.

Snow Covered PinesSnowy Morning As you can see, I have much work to do in my yard. The wind knocked down many trees this season, but I’m afraid it will be work to do in the spring.

For now, I have started a new ink drawing of an Ox Eye Daisy that I will share soon on IG. There is also a new set of four bird prints at my shop.

What do you like to do when the season keeps you indoors.

Have a beautiful week!

Much love,

Lisa

  1. The bit of snow dusting the yellows and Amber’s looks beautiful. When I had a house in Buffalo, NY, I had a sunroom overlooking 26 trees in my backyard. About this time of the year, I lived turning off all things electronic, sit in the room with a hot mug of dark coffee and soak it all in. I miss those times of that unique peace from autumn. Hugs in the hues.

    1. Thank you! My yard needs some love after the wind 😊 Thats wonderful you finished your garden. It feels so good to get it put to bed before winter. Cosying up with reading and movies is the greatest gift of winter! πŸπŸ’—πŸ˜Š

  3. Hi Lisa – your new artwork is gorgeous. We haven’t had any snow yet – in fact we are having a glorious sunny autumn day here in England. Autumn is beautiful but you are right it does get the short end of the stick, before you know it all the beauty is lying on the floor. Wrap up warm!

  4. Snow, already in MI.. So early. That means that we will have some very soon here in Quebec too. It’s time to do the usual autumn cleaning in the house but as I also need to relax these days I’m going to escape in a good book tonight… As always I love your artwork. Beautiful! Have a good week my friend. xoxo

      1. I’m trying to finish Lancashire, Where Women Die of Love… But I have too many things on my mind at the moment and find it hard to concentrate. Perhaps I should make it easier on myself and read a French book instead. The feelings are mutual dear friend. Have a wonderful week as well Lisa. xoxo

  5. Wow, Lisa. How did I miss this serene post? This is so beautiful, but I can’t believe how fast nature changed and prepped for the winter. Your birds are so cute and precious. I can hear them chirping all the way over here πŸ™‚
