Botanical Paper

Blue Pincushion and butterfly botanical paper 8.5 x 11

Originally, I was going to post about doodling and my favorite artist pens by Faber-Castell. Then, I ran across this Blue Pincushion (Brunonia australis) from an 1840 gardening magazine. The star shaped petals add so much texture to the drawing and I love the color. Some of the leaves had to be restored because of water damage, but it gives it character. I placed the restored botanical on invoice paper, added an architectural render, and butterfly to create a new piece of art from ephemera.

This would look lovely in a frame, decoupaged onto wood or furniture, or as a scrapbook page. I have recently seen material created from these types of prints by Spoonflower.  When I clicked on their site, I see you can order fabric, wallpaper, gift wrap, home decor, and children’s clothing (cut & sew) using your own design. I am going to look through my paper and give it a try, I especially love the pillows. I will post about my experience once I try it.

Right click or highlight to save paper to your drive. I have sized it to print as 8.5 x 11 or A2. For more like this, please visit
